waaaay back last christmas, carla and i threw a christmas cocktail party. as we take parties seriously, we bought some peppermint schnapps and went looking for drink recipes with which to make things happen. and because we take parties seriously, we bought plenty of schnapps, and i’m drinking a peppermint drink now, and i think it would be a good idea to transfer our holiday drink recipes from my stickies application to the food blog.
so it’s a drink blog for a day, and it’s christmas in august! hooray.
Ambassador’s Punch recipe
1 qt chilled eggnog
5 oz brandy
4 oz dark rum
3 oz dark creme de cacao
1 whole nutmeg
– this turned out fine; it might have been a little strong, but it was pretty good.
Golden Mint
* 1 part Martell™ Cognac
* 1 part Hiram Walker® Peppermint Schnapps
Serve in rocks glass with splash of ginger ale, garnish with lime wedge
– i’m drinking this right now, sans the ginger ale, and it’s way too strong, but in a good way. this was delightful.
Peppermint Patty
1 parts creme de cocoa white
1 part peppermint schnapps
2 1/2 parts half and half
build over ice, stir gently, and serve
– this was probably the highlight of the cocktail party, an unbelievable tasty drink. go figure, as it’s mostly half and half. HIGHLY recommended for holiday festivities.
